Plano is a great place to visit with kids. Located in the North Dallas suburbs with easy access from the Dallas North Tollway, there are plenty of kid-friendly things to do and family activities to keep everyone entertained — from museums and parks to unique experiences you won't find anywhere else in Texas. Here are seven of our favorite kids activities in Plano, all within a short drive from Four Points by Sheraton Plano in the Legacy West area.
1. PINSTACK
A 50,000-square-foot entertainment destination just off the Dallas North Tollway in Plano, PINSTACK packs a lot into one stop: 28 bowling lanes, a two-level laser tag arena, a rock climbing wall, a high-ropes course suspended over the game floor, and a large arcade, plus a full-service restaurant. With activities spanning younger kids to teens, it's an easy half-day out and a reliable rainy-day option just minutes from the hotel.
2. Fowling Warehouse
This unique combination of bowling and darts (called "fowling") is a lot of fun for the whole family. There are also arcade games and a bar, so adults can enjoy it too. A great option for families with older kids or mixed-age groups.
3. Go Ape!
This treetop adventure course is a great way to get older kids and teens moving outdoors, with rope ladders, Tarzan swings, and zip lines through the forest canopy. It's located in Oak Point Park & Nature Preserve, Plano's largest green space, in east Plano. Note that the Treetop Adventure is built for ages 10 and up (minimum height about 4'7"), so it's best for families with older children — younger kids may be happier at one of the other stops on this list.
4. Heritage Farmstead Museum
This living history museum takes you back to the late 1800s and early 1900s. Kids can see what life was like on a working Texas farm, interact with period exhibits, and learn about the history of Plano and Collin County. A great educational stop that doesn't feel like school.
5. National Videogame Museum
The only museum dedicated entirely to the history of video games (~7 miles from the hotel). Hundreds of playable classic games and permanent exhibits covering the full history of gaming. Great for all ages — parents and kids alike tend to lose track of time here.
6. Arbor Hills Nature Preserve
Just 3 miles from the hotel, this 200-acre nature preserve has paved and unpaved trails, an elevated observation deck, and wide open meadows. Free admission, easy parking, and a great way to burn energy on a nice day.
7. Legacy Hall & Legacy West
For a more urban family outing, Legacy Hall's three-story food hall has something for every palate — including kid-friendly options alongside more adventurous choices. The outdoor spaces at Legacy West are walkable and often host family-friendly events and pop-ups throughout the year.
Four Points by Sheraton Plano is a great home base for families exploring the area. We feature an outdoor pool, spacious Double Queen rooms, and a lobby area perfect for winding down after a day of activities. Located at 6624 Communications Pkwy, Plano TX 75024.
